ภาวะรังไข่ล้มเหลวก่อนวัยอันควร (premature overian failure หรือ POF) คือ ภาวะที่มีการลดลงของจำนวนฟองไข่ก่อนวัยอันสมควร โดยทั่วไปถือเอาที่อายุ 40 ปี พบได้ประมาณร้อยละ 1 ในสตรีทั่วไป ร้อยละ 10 ของสตรีที่มีภาวะขาดระดู (secondary amenorrhea) และร้อยละ 10 28 ของสตรีที่ไม่มีระดู (primary amenorrhea) 1-3
