บทคัดย่อ

มะเร็งผิวหนังชนิด basal cell carcinoma เป็นมะเร็งที่พบบ่อยที่สุดของมนุษย์ทั่วโลก จากรายงานของประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกาในปี ค.ศ. 2009 พบว่ามีผู้ป่วยรายใหม่มากถึง 900,000 ราย เป็นเพศชาย 550,000 ราย และหญิง 350,000 ราย¹ สำหรับในประเทศไทยตามรายงานของสถาบันมะเร็งแห่งชาติปี พ.ศ.2555 พบว่าจำนวนผู้ป่วยมะเร็งผิวหนังในเพศชายคิดเป็นร้อยละ 2.32 ของผู้ป่วยมะเร็งทั้งหมด และในเพศหญิงคิดเป็นร้อยละ 1.82 ของมะเร็งทั้งหมด ซึ่งหากผู้ป่วยได้รับการรักษาตั้งแต่ระยะเริ่มต้นก็มักจะได้รับผลการรักษาที่ดีทั้งในแง่ของโอกาสการหายและลดโอกาสการสูญเสียอวัยวะที่เกี่ยวข้อง

Basal cell carcinoma is the most common human malignancy. In 2009, the number of new cases diagnosed in the United States was estimated to be 900,000; 550,000 in men and 350,000 in women. Thai national cancerinstitute reported that in 2012, skin cancer were 2.32% of the total cancer in Thai male and 1.82% of the total cancer in Thai female. If the patients receive early treatment , it will be good prognosis for cure rate and decrease the risk of functional and cosmetic loss.
