Having a family member receiving severe trauma is a crisis for family members. It was found that family membersresponse to the situation could be categorized into 6 states, i.e. great worries, denial, anger, sorry, depression and recovery. Family members were found to have four needs during these stages, information need, physiological need, emotional need, and spiritual need. In order that a person can adjust oneself to a balancing condition, it was found that the factors behind ones adjustment realistic perception of the event, adequate situational support and appropriate coping mechanism. Response to the four needs helps a person to adjust himself to a normal equilibrium. Response to the need for information will enable a person to perceive an event correctly. Physical need response will lead to adequate situational. support. Emotional and spiritual need response will enrich a person with appropriate coping mechanism.
