Utrasonographic  features  of  32  patients  who  had  gastrointestinal  pathology  proved  by  endoscopy  and / or  exploratory  loporotomy  with  pathological  sections  were  analysed.  The  pathology  was  classified  into  neoplasm  group  (17 / 32) and  non – neoplasm  group  (15 / 32).  Among  17  cases  of  neoplasm  group,  echoic  masses  were  found  in  9  cases  (9 /17),  thicken  bowel  wall  in  7  cases  (7 /17)  which  all  are  adenocarcinoma  of  stomach  and  mixed  echoic  mass in  only  I  case  (1/17).  In  non – neoplasm  group,  we  found  gastric  outlet  obstruction  or  dissented  stomach  without  mass  5  cases  ( 5 /15),  mixed  echoic  mass  4  cases (4 /15),  echoic  mass  2  cases  ( 2 /15),  thicken  bowel  wall  2  cases  ( 2 /15),  pseudokidney  sign  1  case  and  matted  fluid – filled  bowel  loops  1  case.  We found  hat  most  cases  of  the  neoplasm  group  have  echoic  mass  and  thicken  bowel  wall  (16 /17).  The  variation  in  sonographic  findings  in  non – neoplasm  group  depended  on  pathological  process  of  the  diseases  as  discussed  in  detail  in  the  text.  

    คณะผู้รายงานศึกษาลักษณะอัตตราซาวด์ของผู้ป่วยที่มีพยาธิสภาพของทางเดินอาหาร  จำนวน  32  ราย  โดยแบ่งการวินิจฉัยโรคเป็นกลุ่ม  neoplasm  17  ราย  และ  noneoplasm  15  ราย  ซึ่งในกลุ่ม  neoplasm  เป็นมะเร็งกระเพาะอาหาร  8  ราย  มะเร็งลำไส้ใหญ่  4  ราย  และ  lymphoma  5  ราย  ส่วนในกลุ่ม  nonneoplasm  เป็นวัณโรคทางเดินอาหาร  3  ราย ,  appendiceal  abscess  3  ราย ,  chronic  peptic  ulcer  3  ราย ,  intussusception  1  ราย ,  Ladd’s  band  1  ราย,  Hypertophic  Pyloric  Stenosis  1  ราย,  duodenal   hematoma  1 ราย  และ  chronic  nonspecific  esophagitis  1  ราย  ลักษณะอัตตราซาวด์ในกลุ่ม  neoplasm  พบ  echoic  mass 9  ราย  ( 9 / 17),  thicken  bowel  wall  7  ราย  ( 7 /17)  โดยทุกรายเป็นมะเร็งกระเพาะอาหารและ  mixed  echoic  mass  1  ราย  (1/17)  ส่วนในกลุ่ม non – neoplasm  พบลักษณะ  gastric  outlet  obstruction  หรือ  distended  stomach  without  mass  5  ราย  ( 5 /15)  mixed  echoic  mass  4  ราย  ( 4 /15),  echoic  mass  2  ราย  ( 2 /15) ,  thicken  bowel  wall  2  ราย  (2 /15)  pseudokidney  sign  และ  matted  fluid  filled  bowel  loops  อย่างละ  1  ราย
    พอจะสรุปได้ว่าภาพอัลตราซาวด์ในผู้ป่วยเนื้องอกทางเดินอาหาร  (neoplasm  group)  เกือบทุกรายพบเป็น  echoic  mass  หรือ  thicken  bowel  wall  (โดยเฉพาะมะเร็งกระเพาะอาหาร)  ซึ่งต่างจาก  non – neoplasm  ที่ภาพอัลตราซาวด์ขึ้นอยู่กับพยาธิสภาพของโรคนั้น  ๆ   ซึ่งได้กล่าวโดยละเอียดในรายงาน
